You can offer two types of courses through Teachable to your students, Course, and Coaching.
Another feature is that you can include videos, images, or PDF documents within your course and make them available on your course page.
You can also create a coaching program where you can teach your students session-by-session or through live sessions. Live sessions involve more interaction with your students than using the session-by-session feature.
Interface
Teachable has a sleek interface, and everything is intuitive. The above screenshot shows a panel of tools and settings on the left. This panel helps build a course, which makes it easy to use these features.
Customization
From logo branding, thumbnail creation, font family, and color palette, you can use many customization features to enhance the design of your course.
Curriculum
A curriculum is a course’s backbone. You can create sections for your course and add lectures under each section. You can also upload course materials like videos, audio, images, and PDFs.
Once you upload files, you can add descriptions to the course. You are provided a text editor within Teachable that you can use to format your course descriptions.
If you want to place a quiz to evaluate your students’ understanding after completing the course or to receive feedback, Teachable helps you create one easily.
Another curriculum feature is the ability to upload files in bulk and use Teachable stock images for your courses.
You can move sections and lectures on the curriculum page. To shuffle lectures, hold the lecture, then drag and drop it where you want.
Once your course materials are uploaded and organized, hit the publish button.
Course Compliance
This feature allows you to place compliance for your students to align with you if they want to move ahead with the course. In the image above, you can see the actions a student must comply with to move ahead with the course.
Order Bumps
Order bumps help increase order value.
For example, have you ever shopped on an eCommerce site?
If you have, you probably noticed that while you are checking out with your cart items, you can see different products connected to the ones in your cart, which entices you to add the “bump” product to your cart and increase the value of your cart.
Teachable offers a similar one-click order bump, which you can place while your students check out one of your products, which allows you to sell more courses and earn more revenue.
Course Pricing
Teachable also lets you set how your students or clients will pay for your courses or coaching. As seen in the above screenshot, you can decide whether to set a recurring subscription, a one-time purchase, a payment plan, how frequently you want your students to pay for your course, or offer a free plan.
Teachable supports hundreds of payment currencies, including USD, CAD, INR, etc.
You can also select the currency, input the amount, select the payment frequency, provide a name for your pricing plan, enter a short description, and offer a free trial if you wish. You can also create a bundle plan.
Affiliates
Affiliates are third parties who help you sell your products and courses. In return for using affiliates, you give them a commission with the sale of a product.
Teachable helps you manage your affiliates as well. You can list your affiliates with their names, emails, affiliate codes, and commission percentage in one place.
Track Sales
The Track Sales feature allows you to see how many sales have been made, who purchased your course, when the course was purchased, whether the customer came from an affiliate, used a coupon, and other pertinent information.
Teachable Support
As soon as you enter the Teachable dashboard, you are given a welcome webinar link that walks you through the platform. Here, you can see how others have created their courses, how they have earned a six-figure income, and how you can create a course.
Teachable support has a knowledge base with dozens of articles to help you troubleshoot your issues.
Teachable also offers support in three ways, ticket support, chat support, and email support. The first two support options are not available with the free plan. If you are using the free plan and need support, you have to email them at support@teachable.com.
Their email support team is available seven days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM GMT-5, and their live chat is there to help you Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM US Eastern Standard Time.
Teachable:U
Teachable:U is a platform created for creators. It is intended to provide you with a step-by-step process for creating your online course on Teachable and how to sell and profit from it. Teachable:U is available on any of the paid plans.

Teachable has four pricing plans: Free, Basic, Pro, and Business.
We will skip the Free plan for now, and we will discuss it later. The Basic plan comes with everything offered in the Free plan, plus custom domain support, drip content, access to Teachable:U, two admin-level users, and integration with applications like Mailchimp, ConvertKit, Zapier, and Circle.so.
The transaction fee is 5% for the Basic plan, and the cost is 59 USD per month.
There are two more Pro plans: the recommended and Business plans to cater to your course scalability needs.
The Pro plan includes Basic plan features, group coaching calls, priority product support, course completion certificates, graded quizzes, advanced reporting, and five admin-level users.
Unlike the Free and Basic plans, the Pro plan is exempted from transaction fees. It is available for 159 USD per month.
The last plan is their Business plan. However, the cost of this plan is not mentioned on the website, so you must contact customer care to get the quote.
The Business plan includes everything the Pro plan offers, adding a few more features, such as twenty admin-level users, bulk student enrollments, and advanced theme customization.
However, I recommend the Pro plan, as the Business plan does not offer any necessary extraordinary features.
The pricing mentioned above is monthly and subscription-based. If you go for the annual subscription, the cost will be reduced to 39 and 119 USD per month. That is all the information you need for the paid plans. Now, let us see what we are getting with the Free plan.
First, providing a Free plan is quite a generous offer from Teachable, as not many software platforms provide one. With Teachable’s Free plan, you can access the interface feature and play around with the dashboard, functionality, and usability.
Apart from giving you access to its platform, you are also given many features to help you try it. You can create unlimited courses and coaching, upload unlimited coaching videos, have unlimited students, basic quizzes, integration with Google, Sumo, Segment applications, product support, and more.
As a result, you can earn money even if you are on the Free plan because you can still create your course. The transaction fee for the Free plan is 1 USD plus 10% per transaction.

What do I like about Teachable?
Though Teachable has many features, I particularly like the following two features.
The first feature is EU VAT MOSS support. Teachable will collect the EU VAT tax and submit it automatically on your behalf.
If you have customers from the European Union, this feature is very useful as you will not have to worry about tax collection and submission.
No other course management platform offers this feature natively.
Another feature is Teachable Pay. This is a native payment processor by Teachable where you will not need to create a third-party account with a Payment processor, such as Stripe, to collect payment.
You can sell products using Teachable Pay which puts money straight into your account. Very few course management software platforms offer this feature.
What do I not like about Teachable?
I wish Teachable could offer the following two features.
The first feature is SCORM support. Often, users need a special course requirement not offered by a course platform. In such cases, third-party software helps a lot. For example, you can create advanced quizzes using ispringsolution, get the output in SCROM, and upload it in any SCORM-supported course management system.
Such a feature increases course interactivity.
I contacted Teachable support for this feature, and they said they do not support it and do not intend to offer it soon.
Another feature I wish Teachable offered is an advanced quiz. Teachable offers a basic quiz for the course. However, If you have advanced quiz requirements or want to build an interactive mock test, you cannot do that with this platform.
Teachable needs to improve in this area.
Conclusions
If you plan to launch an online course, Teachable could be your best choice. It offers everything you need to launch and market your course. It has the simplest interface, takes care of payment integration, and has EU VAT MOSS which is absent in almost all other course platforms.
